Imprisoned or free work-environment
I’m in love with technology right now. The visions from 10 years ago is really becoming a everyday reality now; city-wifi, fast 3G, online apps for almost everything, handheld … you name it. I love it. It saves us time and gives us a lot more freedom in social/work-life.

I often hear that people think is a bad thing that you are constantly connected, constantly reachable but it is the opposite. It gives you freedom, and time, lots of time. Instead of beeing tied to a office or a specific offline system you can, say you are going on a trip/holiday, rescedule your work and leave a couple of days earlier or stay longer. With the right tools you can finish your work on the flight, train, bus or whatever and on arrival you can go online and deliver your projects.
So the result is that you get more time, feel better and can have a richer life instead of sitting in the office until 21.00 the night before the trip, rush home, pack, sleep, leave.
Even if it’s just you or a bunch of team-mates this is the basic tools you need to distribute yourself:
* Basecamp / Online project management. Ensure good RSS and a mobile interface.
* Adressbook - keep it updated daily and put every person you meet into it. Make short notes about people in your adress book, their good and bad sides, skills and qualitys so you easily can find people when a quick project comes along.
* Calendar - Keep it updated daily and sync with other units. Devide the calendar in sub-calendars/layers for your spare time, deadlines, to-do lists and work stuff.
* Mobile phone - Use one with a good keyboard, good calendar and adressbook. Wifi, notes and a good filehandling is also important.
